Video: A wee bit of Auckland, New Zealand in 720p HD

I have been messing around with a new video camera for work. A Flip Video Mino HD and over the last week or so I have been filming in and around where I live, which is of course, Auckland New Zealand.

Here is a video in High Definition, 720p for you to have a gander at.

I filmed this over 2 days while Cycling from Devonport in the North Shore of Auckland, over to the city and then along Tamaki drive.

Featuring, Auckland harbour, the Kea Ferry, The Ferry Building, Auckland Skytower, Mount Victoria, Okahu Bay, MAXX Commuter Train, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Viaduct Harbour, Tamaki Drive, North Head and Rangitoto Island. Enjoy!

Make sure you select the 720p (HD Version!)

When are we getting more Freeview Channels?

Watching the 2008 Beijing Olympics in High Definition on New Zealand Freeview TVNZ One channel was amazing.

But what now? When are we getting more channels?

Using the UHF Aerial in the Auckland region we have the capability to receive High Definition channels but so far, we have received very little. I look on the Freeviewtv.co.nz website to see when new channels will come out, and there is nothing.

Apart from the good old TV1, Tv2 and TV3, there is precious little on offer here,
  • C4 has some decent programmes but is usually broadcasting the latest music for people younger than myself.
  • TVNZ 6 is for kids
  • TVNZ 7 looks like a decent entry to ther TVNZ channels
  • TVNZ "Sports Extra" is an "occasional channel"
  • Parliament TV is rarely on air too!
So we have the normal channels + TVNZ 7 for the adults and TVNZ 6 for the Kids.

Are we getting any more? and will they be in HD?
