Nuclear India YES Nuclear Iran NO

BBC News >>> The US Senate has approved a nuclear deal with India, ending a three-decade ban on US nuclear trade with Delhi.

The 86-13 vote was the last legislative hurdle in a process that began when an agreement was reached in 2005.

The deal will give India access to US civilian nuclear technology and fuel in return for inspections of its civilian, but not military, nuclear facilities.

India says the accord is vital to meet its rising energy needs. Critics say it creates a dangerous precedent.

They say it effectively allows India to expand its nuclear power industry without requiring it to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as other nations must.

The US restricted nuclear co-operation with India after it tested a nuclear weapon in 1974.

Tzipi Livni : New Israeli Prime Minister

Attack Posture Mrs Livni

"grrrrr!, go away you nasty Palestinian or Ill scratch your eyes out!"

So Israel gets its 2nd woman in the position of PM. Good on them, hopefully a female touch is exactly what this part of the world needs after all the trouble of recent times.

The timing might be good too, what with Iran possibly fiddling with Nuclear Power these days, hopefully a cooler head might help in such circumstances. It will be interesting to see how the Ex-Mossad agent performs as Israels new Prime Minister over the next year or so.

Good on ya Mrs Livni! Good on ya Israel!

North Korea Missile Test

Looks like pesky "can-he-be-stopped" Kim Jong Il has been pushing those big red buttons again.

This time he has been apparently testing the engine on an alleged long range nuclear missile according to various unconfirmed media reports.

State Department honcho Sean McCormack said he cannot confirm reports that old Kimbo had tested the missile. "Any ballistic missile activity of the kind reported would not be permitted'' under Security Council resolution 1718, McCormack told reporters in Washington today.

The missile is likely to be the Taepodong-2 Nuclear missile, which has a range of 6,700 kilometers. Nasty!
