New Auckland Logo (updated)

I know that branding and logos are important these days and this one cost us $174,000. Is that cheap? is that value for money? I really don't know.

So what do you think of the new Logo to promote Auckland City to the world?

I have to say, I quite like it, although I would have thought that a logo for Auckland would incorporate something symbolic about the city in it, such as a part of the Auckland skyline, sky tower perhaps.

I thought I would try my hand at improving the logo myself, what do you think?

I found this image on the www.brandauckland.com website and now I think I get it.
When the logo is used in this context I think it actually does work.
